Season 84 “Stone Cold” Freezes the Clash Royale Meta

Since June 1, 2026, Clash Royale has entered a new icy era with Season 84 “Stone Cold.” This June update goes far beyond a seasonal reskin: two new cards, an original game mode, a revamped Trophy Road, and the largest spell nerf in recent memory have completely reshuffled Supercell’s card battler.

  • Princess Evolution: Ice Arrows and a persistent frost zone after her death
  • Hero Tombstone: the first ever building-type Hero in the game
  • Princess Gambit: random competitive mode with no King Tower (June 10–20)
  • 12 spells nerfed: Crown Tower damage cut across all core spells
  • Trophy Road reworked: two seasonal arenas forcing deck variety

Princess Evolution and Her Ice Arrows

The Princess finally receives her Evolution in Season 84. Her first shot, and then every third attack, fires an Ice Arrow that slows nearby enemies in an area. When she dies, arrows continue to fall on the battlefield, creating a persistent frost zone that slows any troops moving through it.

This makes the Evolved Princess a strong pick in control-oriented decks: she can slow down a push from behind her tower and leave a frozen trail that stays useful for several seconds even after she’s been eliminated. The Princess Evolution Draft event (June 1–8) gave players a first look at her potential.

She is unlockable via Evolution Shards or by upgrading the Pass Royale.

Hero Tombstone and the Tomb Queen

Hero Tombstone is a first in Clash Royale history: it’s the first building-type Hero in the game. You deploy it like a regular Tombstone — it spawns Skeletons on a timer until you trigger its ability.

When you press the ability button, Regal Revival activates: the Tombstone is destroyed and the Tomb Queen rises from the ground. She’s a tanky ground unit that targets enemy buildings while continuously spawning Skeletons around her — a sustained damage threat on towers. The ability costs 6 Elixir, making timing essential.

The Hero Tombstone is free for all players through the Undead Bazaar event arriving during the season. No Pass Royale required for the base card.

Princess Gambit: the No-Deck Mode

From June 10 to 20, 2026, Clash Royale offers Princess Gambit, a radically different experience:

  • No deck building: cards appear randomly from a pool of 40
  • No King Tower: each side defends only their two Princess Towers
  • Instant win: first to destroy an opponent’s Princess Tower wins
  • Match duration: 3 minutes

This mode rewards adaptability over single-deck mastery. Princess Gambit runs as a competitive League event — a rare format that rewards players who can think on their feet.

The seasonal undead atmosphere continues with the Restless Undead event from June 22–29.

The Massive Spell Nerf

This is the most structural change of Season 84: 12 spells have had their direct damage to Princess Towers reduced. For several seasons, spell-chip decks relied on these spells to whittle down towers while troops advanced — that strategy is now significantly less efficient.

Affected spells:

SpellCrown Tower damage reduction
Arrows-19%
Freeze-18%
Fireball-17%
Zap-17%
Giant Snowball-17%
Rage-17%
The Log-15%
Poison-9%
Earthquake-8%
Vines-8%
Rocket-8%
Lightning-7%

Other notable nerfs:

  • Hero Balloon: Skeletrooper Landing Damage -14% (307 → 263), mid-health troops now survive the landing
  • Hero Bowler: Ability Duration -18% (9 s → 7.3 s), now throws 3 rocks instead of 4

Buffs:

  • Rune Giant: +28% damage (120 → 153), now a serious threat to buildings and towers
  • Dart Goblin Evolution: poison boosted (+25%/+11%)
  • Electro Dragon: +5% HP
  • Goblin Giant: +3% HP

Meta impact: Spell-chip archetypes (Graveyard Poison, Log Bait) drop a tier. Unit-based win conditions (Royal Hogs, Hog Cycle, Golem Beatdown) rise.

Trophy Road: Two Seasonal Arenas

Season 84 also redesigns Trophy Road progression. Once completed, it splits into two distinct seasonal arenas:

  • Seasonal Arena I: standard format
  • Seasonal Arena II: your 8 most-used cards are banned, forcing you to develop new decks and strategies

In both arenas, all cards are boosted to Level 15 minimum to ensure fairness, even for newer players.

This ban mechanic fits Supercell’s broader push to reward versatility over single-archetype mastery.

A More Balanced Summer Meta

Season 84 “Stone Cold” stands as one of Clash Royale’s most ambitious updates of 2026. The blanket spell nerf reshuffles the meta, Princess Evolution opens new control synergies, and Hero Tombstone introduces a completely new Hero placement model. Follow all updates on our Clash Royale hub.
