Stellaris Nomads Is Live: A New Way to Rule the Galaxy
Stellaris: Nomads officially launches today, June 15, 2026, alongside the free patch 4.4 “Pegasus” — the eleventh major expansion for Paradox Development Studio’s sci-fi grand strategy game. Every player gets something today, whether or not they purchase the DLC.
Here’s what’s changed.
The Nomads DLC: Empire Without a Home World
The concept is straightforward: your capital is no longer a planet — it’s an Arkship, a colossal self-sustaining vessel that carries your entire civilization across the stars.
Three Arkship types define your playstyle:
- Military Flagship: maximizes firepower. Built for empires that live off warfare and raiding.
- Mobile Laboratory: research-focused. For a late-blooming tech empire that punches up in the midgame.
- Industrial Hub: hyper-efficient resource extraction. The economic pick for empires that thrive in motion.
To move through the galaxy, nomadic empires construct Waystations that generate a network of Waylines — the nomadic equivalent of colonized stars. Instead of planting flags on planets, you chart routes, create spheres of influence, and build flow economies.
The new contracts system gives nomadic empires a social role: settled empires can commission tasks (trade escort, exploration, security), pulling you into galactic diplomacy rather than locking you into the raider archetype.
Other DLC exclusives: four narrative origins (Voidfarers, Heirs of the Khan, The Sacred Path, Forever Cruise), new civics, tradition swaps, the Wanderlust Ascension Perk, Renowned Nomadic Paragons, and the gladiatorial Champion’s Forge enclave.

Patch 4.4 Pegasus: Free for Everyone
The 4.4 patch ships with the DLC, but its biggest changes are free for all Stellaris players:
Unemployment removed: the mechanic is gone. Displaced POPs automatically fall back into available low-tier jobs. The job selection logic now prioritizes efficiency over incumbency — your most productive species automatically slot into the best available roles.
Stellar Cannon: a new Megastructure available without the Nomads DLC. It converts your entire energy stockpile into a devastating beam capable of hitting enemy systems across the galaxy. The flashiest end-game weapon since the Armageddon Bomb.
New Ambition: Defender of the Galaxy and Hero Ships are also part of the free patch.

Is It Worth €24.99?
Stellaris: Nomads is priced at €24.99 / $24.99 standalone or included in the Season 10 Bundle — standard pricing for a major Paradox expansion.
Who should buy it:
- Yes if you have hundreds of hours and want a fundamentally different playstyle. Managing a Wayline network replaces the colonization race entirely.
- Yes if you’ve always wanted to play a planet-free empire — it’s a community request Paradox once called “impossible to balance”.
- Wait if you’re new to Stellaris — nomadic mechanics assume a solid grasp of the fundamentals.
The 4.4 Pegasus patch alone is worth updating for the POP rework, regardless of the DLC.
