One of the biggest surprises of PC Gaming Show 2026: Relic Entertainment and Blackbird Interactive announced on June 7, 2026 that they are jointly developing Company of Heroes – Definitive Edition, a comprehensive modernization of one of the most influential real-time strategy games ever made.

Originally released in 2006, Company of Heroes revolutionized the RTS genre with its dynamic cover system, directional fire mechanics, and cinematic battlefield presentation set against the backdrop of World War II. Nearly twenty years later, it returns in an edition built for modern hardware.

The Definitive Edition bundles the original game with both of its major expansions:

Opposing Fronts — Panzer Elite and British Forces factions, with two additional campaigns
Tales of Valor — three more campaigns focused on elite units

The complete package delivers 3 cinematic campaigns, 4 unique armies, and more than 50 multiplayer and skirmish maps. The developers have confirmed that no new content or post-launch DLC is planned — the goal is to deliver the ultimate version of the original Company of Heroes experience.

The Definitive Edition brings significant technical improvements across the board:

64-bit upgrade: better memory management and stability on modern systems
Enhanced visuals: revamped lighting, shadows, water effects, and reflections with increased draw distance
